Actor, Dejumo Lewis passed away on Saturday at the age of 80.

Fellow actor Saidi Balogun confirmed the news on Instagram, sharing a photo of Lewis and writing, “Good night DEJUMO LEWIS, may your soul rest in perfect peace. RIP.” Though the cause of death remains unconfirmed, Balogun’s post ignited a wave of condolences from fans, fellow actors, and actresses across the nation.
Born in Lagos in 1943, Lewis carved his legacy through a multifaceted career spanning film, television, and theatre. He achieved national recognition for his portrayal of the Kabiyesi, the village chief, in “The Village Headmaster,” Nigeria’s longest-running television drama, which ran from 1968 to 1988.
Beyond “The Village Headmaster,” Lewis graced the screens with his captivating presence in numerous films, including “A Place in the Stars” (2014), “Crossroads” (2020), and “Power of 1” (2018).
