NOIPolls: Ambode leads in Lagos guber race

Akinwumi Ambode, gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, maybe lead the pack of contenders ahead of the election scheduled for February 28, 2015 survey result released by NOIPolls, a copy of which was made available yesterday to BusinessDay.

According to the survey commissioned by ANAP Foundation, a non-profit organisation committed to promoting good governance, Ambode is ahead of Jimi Agbaje, gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), with a slim margin.

Out of the total sampled number of eligible voters in Lagos State, 26 percent decided for Ambode; 21 percent for Agbaje; 31 percent returned undecided; 19 percent confidential; 2 percent not voting and 1 percent classified as others. The poll also indicated that 29 percent potential male voters and 24 percent females favoured Ambode, whereas 27 percent and 16 percent of males and females tipped Agbaje.

The opinion poll was conducted b y NOIPolls in the week that began on January 12, 2015. NOIPolls Limited also carried out the exercise in technical partnership with the Gallup Organisation (USA). ANAP, for whom the survey was conducted, has been carrying out a series of elections polls since 2011 with the sole objective to provide information on opinion research during the election period. According to reports, ANAP conducted similar polls for the Lagos State gubernatorial and presidential elections in 2011.
