Rear Admiral Nnamdi Christianatus Ekwom has received a fellowship award in recognition of his contributions to public administration and service to the nation.
The conferment was approved by the Governing Council of the Institute of Corporate Administration, according to a letter signed by its Director and Chief Learning Officer, Godswill C. Onyekwere.
The Institute stated that the award is in acknowledgement of “dedication and commitment beyond the call to duty, professionalism in service and visionary approach to administrative matters.” It added that the honour qualifies him as a senior member of the Institute and entitles him to use the designatory letters FCAI.
The presentation of the award certificate and executive wall plaque took place at the Institute’s 2026 Kick-off and Strategy Conference held at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce Conference and Exhibition Centre in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos State. The event was held on March 28, 2026, with the theme “Developing Organisational Resilience for Managing in Uncertain Times.”
Ekwom has served in several roles in the Nigerian Navy and in international assignments. He was Commanding Officer of Nigerian Navy Ship OKPABANA, where he oversaw operations and maritime security efforts. He also served as Defence Adviser to the Republic of Cameroon, with concurrent accreditation to the Republic of Congo and the Central African Republic.
His service record includes positions as Deputy Defence Adviser to the National Assembly, Fleet Commander of the Central Fleet, and Commander of Operation TSARE TEKU. In these roles, he contributed to naval operations, policy engagement, and regional cooperation.
He was the Head of Maritime Engagement Division for the African Partnership Station 2010/2011 in Naples, Italy.
He has also received recognition outside Nigeria. He is a recipient of the national honour of the Republic of Cameroon, Knight of the Order of Valour (KOV), awarded for service linked to defence cooperation.
The Institute, in its message, stated, “Congratulations! while wishing you many more years of fruitful service to humanity.”
The conferment marks another stage in the career of the naval officer, whose work has spanned operational command, administration, and international defence relations.
