The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening leadership capacity and institutional excellence with the graduation of 62 senior officers from its 13th Command Course.
It charged the officers to uphold professionalism, integrity and operational excellence in the discharge of their duties.
The three-month training programme, which focused on strategic leadership, border security and migration management, brought together senior officers drawn from Commands and Formations across the country.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony held on Saturday at the Immigration Command and Staff College, Kemi Nandap, Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, reiterated the Service’s unwavering commitment to leadership development and institutional capacity building.
Represented by S. U. Agba, Assistant Comptroller-General in charge of the Directorate of Human Resource Management, the Comptroller-General urged the graduating officers to justify the confidence reposed in them by demonstrating professionalism, accountability, integrity and transformational leadership.
She said the training was designed to equip participants with the strategic leadership skills required to effectively address evolving migration patterns and emerging border security challenges.
According to her, the Service remains committed to building a highly professional, disciplined and technology-driven workforce capable of safeguarding Nigeria’s borders while delivering efficient migration management services.
“The Nigeria Immigration Service will continue to invest in the development of its personnel to ensure they possess the competence and leadership qualities needed to respond to contemporary security and migration challenges,” she said.
The Comptroller-General further encouraged the officers to apply the knowledge and experience gained during the programme to enhance operational effectiveness, embrace innovation and uphold the highest standards of service in their various Commands and Formations.
Earlier, D. Bagari, Commandant of the Immigration Command and Staff College, A, congratulated the participants for successfully completing what he described as a rigorous leadership development programme.
Bagari urged the newly graduated officers to remain responsive to the demands of public service and continue to demonstrate vigilance in protecting Nigeria’s borders.
He also challenged them to translate the leadership competencies acquired during the course into improved operational performance and greater efficiency across the Service.
As part of the ceremony, all 62 officers were formally conferred with the Pass Command Course (PCC) honour, while exceptional participants received awards for outstanding performance from the Comptroller-General’s representative and other distinguished guests.
The Commandant also decorated Course Provosts with Badges of Honour in recognition of their exemplary service and contributions to the successful conduct of the programme.
