The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has projected hazy weather conditions across the country from Wednesday through Friday.

In its weather outlook released Tuesday in Abuja, NiMet predicted moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility between 2km and 5km in most parts of the country during the forecast period.

“For the North Central region, moderate dust haze with similar horizontal visibility is anticipated,” NiMet stated.

It added that the inland cities of the South would experience cloud patches in a hazy atmosphere, while coastal areas are expected to witness early morning mist or fog. “Later in the day, cloud patches in hazy conditions are also expected in the coastal areas,” it said.

For the northern region, NiMet forecasted slight dust haze with improved visibility throughout the forecast period. On Friday, however, moderate dust haze with visibility ranging from 2km to 5km is expected, with localised visibilities below 1km in parts of Zamfara, Katsina, Kano, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Kaduna states.

The North Central region is expected to see slight dust haze with good visibility, while inland southern cities will experience cloud patches in a hazy atmosphere.

NiMet cautioned the public to take precautions against the health implications of suspended dust particles. It particularly advised individuals with respiratory issues, such as asthma, to stay alert to the weather conditions.

The agency also urged airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports from NiMet for effective flight planning.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated by following weather reports on NiMet’s official website at www.nimet.gov.ng.
