Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a prominent chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, has expressed confidence that Nigeria will ultimately overcome its security challenges, urging citizens to remain steadfast in supporting the federal government and security agencies in the ongoing battle against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes.

Speaking with journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye said the current wave of insecurity, though troubling, would soon be brought under control through coordinated efforts by government, security forces and citizens.

He said President Bola Tinubu’s administration remains committed to restoring peace and safeguarding lives and property across the country, stressing that security agencies have intensified operations against criminal networks threatening national stability.

BusinessDay reports that Nigeria’s security crisis has continued to exact a heavy toll on both civilians and top military officers with terrorists, bandits and kidnappers carrying out deadly attacks across several parts of the country.

In recent years, hundreds of soldiers and security personnel have been killed in ambushes and assaults on military formations, while thousands of civilians have lost their lives or been displaced by violence in the North-East, North-West and parts of the North-Central.

The worsening situation was brought into sharp focus by the tragic death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, a former Director of Defence Information, who died in captivity after being abducted alongside his wife by bandits in Katsina State on May 30. The retired senior officer was laid to rest in Katsina on Saturday,

However, Oyintiloye said President Tinubu’s Democracy Day declaration of zero tolerance for terrorists, bandits and their collaborators underscores the administration’s determination to crush insecurity and restore public confidence.

“The ultimatum issued to kidnappers, bandits and sponsors of terrorism is a clear signal that their reign of terror will not last. Their days are numbered. We share the grief and anguish of parents and families whose loved ones have been abducted or killed. Their pain is our pain, and government is committed to ensuring justice is served,” he said.

The former lawmaker maintained that intelligence and security agencies are working tirelessly to track down perpetrators, rescue victims and dismantle criminal networks operating across the country.

He also called on state governors and local government authorities to complement federal efforts by investing in grassroots intelligence gathering and providing logistical support to security agencies.
