Nigeria-Sweden trade volume reaches $183m, as FG assures safety of Swedish investments

The trade volume between Nigeria and Sweden has reached an impressive $183 million, marking a significant milestone in the bilateral relations between the two nations.

This announcement was made by Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, during a recent meeting with Annika Hahn-Englund, the Swedish Ambassador to Nigeria in Abuja.

Tunji-Ojo praised the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and Sweden, noting that the trade volume between the two nations has steadily increased and now stands at $183 million.

He highlighted that Sweden is one of Nigeria’s key trade partners, with trade relations growing from $29.6 million in 1995 to the current $183 million, reflecting an annual growth rate of 6.7%.

“This growth rate, nearing 7% per annum, indicates a thriving partnership,” the Minister remarked

Tunji-Ojo emphasized the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Swedish investments in Nigeria, highlighting the country’s improving security situation and its attractiveness as a destination for international business.

The details of the meeting were disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by Ozoya Imohimi, the Director of Press and Public Relations.

He further assured Hahn-Englund of Nigeria’s dedication to mutually beneficial collaborations in areas such as economics, business, and migration control.

In her remarks, the Ambassador expressed her interest in understanding the Ministry of Interior’s priorities, gaining updates on the security situation, and discussing Swedish investments in Nigeria.
