The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Thursday canvassed greater collaboration, especially among government agencies and civil society organisations, to ensure the effective implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) on human rights in Borno State.
Tony Ojukwu, the commission’s Executive Secretary, made the call at the opening of a one-day training for stakeholders, in collaboration with Tridose Global Concepts Ltd, held in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
According to him, the training aimed to strengthen the promotion and protection of human rights across the state with participants drawn from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government, civil society organisations and other stakeholders.
Ojukwu, represented by the commission’s State Coordinator in Borno State, Jummai Mshellia, highlighted that the training focused on implementing the 2026 NAP on Human Rights in Borno State, calling for stronger collaboration among all stakeholders to implement the action plan on human rights.
The National Action Plan consultative forum meeting taking place in Borno state enjoins each NAP desk officer in various MDAs and CSOs to ensure the full implementation of NAP for the respect and promotion of human rights within their organisations. My call to all MDAs and CSOs is to ensure the full implementation and compliance with NAP in their respective offices.
