The operation, conducted by personnel of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) DELTA alongside NDLEA operatives, targeted identified drug hotspots as part of ongoing efforts to curb illicit drug trafficking and strengthen security within the Navy’s area of responsibility.
According to a statement on Monday by Abiodun Folorunsho, Director of Naval Information, the coordinated raids were carried out across the Urchie, Uvwiamuge, Orthokpor, and Usiefrun axes of Warri.
The Navy said the operation resulted in the arrest of one suspect and the recovery of several illicit substances, including Molly, cannabis and Skuruchi, dealing what he described as a significant blow to the local drug distribution network.
It noted that the operation reflects the growing synergy between the Nigerian Navy and the NDLEA in tackling organised crime, particularly the link between illicit drug trafficking and other criminal activities that threaten public safety and national security.
“The successful operation underscores the strong collaboration between the Nigerian Navy and the NDLEA in addressing the nexus between illicit drug trafficking and other forms of criminality that threaten public safety and national security,” the statement said.
The Navy reiterated its commitment to sustaining intelligence-led operations and strengthening inter-agency cooperation to deny criminal elements the freedom to operate within the country’s maritime and adjoining communities.
It added that the service would continue to work closely with relevant security and law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking and other illegal activities capable of undermining peace, security and lawful economic activities in its operational areas.
