National Institute rallies partners to train 1,500 youth entrepreneurs

From boardrooms to startups: Understanding the path to becoming an entrepreneur

The Michael Imoudu National Institute of Labour Studies (MINILS), in collaboration with some Non-Governmental Organizations, is set to train 1,500 youths on skills acquisition and entrepreneurship.

Ajayi Razaq, the Head of Department, Entrepreneurship Development Department (EDD) of the Institute stated this in Ilorin during a News Conference, organized to mark World Youth Skills Day (WYSD) 2024.

He said that the theme of the day, “Youth Skills for Peace and Development,” added that the institute collaborated with organizations including Lifefount Foundation and Nonagon to facilitate skills training on Digital Skills, Marketing and Small Business promotion.

Razaq explained the Institute also trained youths in skills acquisition, which included Tailoring and Garment design, Photography and Cinematography, Tie and Dye, Carpentry and woodwork.

He however observed that the main objective of the commemoration of the day was to emphasize how crucial it would be to equip the youth with the necessary skills for fostering a culture of peace, and nurturing responsible global citizens.

He added that in line with President Bola Tinubu’s 8-point Agenda, the Institute had tailored its activities on skills acquisition towards facilitation of youths across the six geo-political zones of the country, including people with special needs.
