Nasarawa State Government says, it is seeking to access grants from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and African Development Bank (AfDB), to supply portable drinking water to all the nook and crannies of the state.
This is just as the state government has reiterated determination to engaging local and international development partners, to provides basic social amenities to the people in all urban areas of the state.
Ahmad Abubakar Kana, the General Manager of the State Water Board, stated this during the monthly meeting with Plants and Area managers, held at the conference hall of the board in Lafia.
He revealed that, the state governor, Abdullahi Sule had engaged the Islamic Development Bank as well as the African Development Bank to provide grants to Nasarawa State government for the purpose of providing portable supply of water to the nook and crannies of the state.
The General Manager stressed that, plans has been concluded for a meeting between the state government, AfDB and the Islamic Development Bank to discuss possible areas of interventions.
He expressed optimistic that, the partnership would serve as an avenue for the expansion of the MADA treatment plant that was built in 1995 for only 250 population.
Kana tasked the managers to be proactive and committed in ensuring that their respective area of coverage are intact, in term of providing quality water to the people, which was inline with the mandate of the board.
The monthly meeting, which is now a ritual at the board, afforded the General Manager the opportunity for an interface with the Management, Plant and Area Managers as well as other Staff to review it activities, successes and how the board’s challenges can be addressed.
