Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule has picked a hole in the operations of security agencies, when it comes to rapid response to cases of insecurity in the state.

This, he noted was not only a loophole on the part of security agencies to save lives, but is responsible for why criminals are having a field day in the state.

Governor Sule who however reiterated the resolve of his administration to strengthen the capacity of security agencies working in the state, through the provision of vehicles and other logistics, to enable them respond rapidly to distressed calls.

Governor Sule who expressed his administration’s worry during the emergency security meeting convened at his instance, following the death of the state APC chairman, Philip Shekwo at the Government House, Lafia.

The meeting was convened with a view to taking steps that will ensure the protection of lives and property of the people of the state and to review issues bordering on the kidnap and murder of the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Philip Shekwo.

Sule said, his administration strongly believes that it is the responsibility of government to protect the lives and property of the citizens.

The governor observed, if the life of the APC chairman, who has some measure of protection, could be taken so easily, then much needed to be done to protect the ordinary citizens.

According to him, one area that is lacking in the state is a rapid response from security agencies.

“I think the period it takes for us to respond to crisis-We have to discuss this in detail so that we can find lasting solutions.

“If we are able to respond quickly, most likely, we will be able to save lives,” he said.

The State Commissioner of Police, Bola Longe, who briefed newsmen after the meeting said, the security council has decided to strengthen security agencies in the state, through the provision of sufficient logistics, particularly vehicles and materials.

According to the police commissioner, such efforts would enable the security agencies to carry out their constitutional duties with ease.

“The State Government has promised that vehicles will be provided and these would assist security agencies to attend quickly to distress calls,” Longe stated.

He assured that the security agencies will get to the root of the matter.
