A concerned group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has warned that the party risks losing the state in the 2027 general election if Nentawe Yilwatda, its National Chairman, fails to urgently address alleged irregularities that marred the National Assembly primaries in the state.

Abdullahi Yammani, the leader of the group, made the call during a press briefing on Tuesday in Lafia

Yammani expressed disappointment over the conduct of some officials responsible for the exercise, particularly officials from the party’s national headquarters, whom he said were absent in several affected areas during the primaries.

According to him, election materials either arrived late or were not supplied at all in some wards within Lafia and its environs, thereby preventing party members from participating in the exercise.

“Some of the affected wards include Gayam, Akurba, Wakes, Agyaragu, Assakio, Ashige, while others are Shabu/Kwandare and Arikya wards,” he said.

The group demanded that “The national officials and the committee deployed to observe the primary elections in Nasarawa State should convene a meeting with all aspirants and relevant stakeholders to evaluate the process and address the grey areas.

“The establishment of properly designated and identifiable collation centres for the collection and submission of primary election results, accessible and known to party members and stakeholders across the state.

“We further demand fairness, equity, justice and a level playing field for all aspirants to freely exercise their democratic rights during party primaries”.

Yammani said the developments had created tension and weakened the confidence of party members in the system, warning that failure by the party leadership to intervene could trigger a mass defection of members to other political parties ahead of the 2027 elections
