Bosun Tijani, minister of communications, innovation and digital economy, and Tokunbo Abiru, the senator representing Lagos East, have unveiled the Awarii Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Lagos.
Tijani, who spoke during the tour of SAIL Innovation Lab in Ikorodu, said through the facility, the minds of young people would be open, noting that ‘we live in a world where technology connects us and this technology makes us overcome barriers.’

The minister said the hub would create hundreds of AI jobs and wealth would also be created while commending the federal lawmaker for the project.
“For the first time, Awarii AI is starting a company that makes machines for our indigenous environment. That is the future that we want for our youths. Ikorodu’s name will be on the artificial intelligence map.
“We set out to open up the minds of young people to opportunities that are available globally, and these opportunities are no longer the preserve of the developed world,” Tijani said.
Olatunbosun Alake, the Lagos State commissioner for innovation, science and technology, noted that through the hub, there would be value creation.
He said the state government would partner with the centre in its innovative and skill empowerment program to empower the youth across the state.
Abiru, the co-founder of the SAIL Innovation Lab, said the launch of the partnership with Awari AI signalled the beginning of a transformative journey in Ikorodu, and Lagos East Senatorial District as a whole.

Abiru said he was passionate about tech and digital skills because of the massive job opportunities and economic growth that the sector can facilitate.
