Abdu Maikaba, Head Coach of the Bauchi State Wikki Tourist Football Club, on Monday, resigned from his role as Head Coach, citing fans’ threats to his life as one of the reasons to call it a quit for Nigeria.
In a letter dated 9th of February, 2026, which was addressed to the chairman of the club, said that he had received so many threats to life in the course of carrying out the job from some sections of the fans, either through physical attack or through social media platforms.
According to Maikaba, “For these reasons, I was forced to make the decision to quit after consulting my family members”.
“The decision became necessary due to the following reasons: disunity among different stakeholders of the team, which makes it very difficult to achieve the set objectives of the group and Safety reasons”.
“I will like to use this opportunity to notify the Management of Wikki Tourist FC of my decision to resign as the technical adviser of the club with immediate effect”, he said.
The resigned head coach of the Wikki Tourist Football Club, Maikaba, expressed his appreciation to the Management of the club for giving him the chance to serve.
