LASEMA reveals identiy of man who jumps off 3rd Mainland Bridge

Eko Bridge gridlock: Respite coming after repair work on Sunday

The Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) has revealed the identity of the man who jumped off the Third Mainland Bridge, in Lagos, on Saturday, February 15, 2020.

He is 22-year-old Daibo Toju Davies, who was residing at 17 Sosanya Street, Gbagada Soluyi.

Davies was said to have contacted an Uber driver, who picked him from Mercy Hospital and were driving inward Adeniji Adele on the Third Mainland Bridge.

According to LASEMA, Davies was said to have informed the Uber driver that he had stomach upset. The driver was said to have stopped the car at Davies’ request, after which opened the car door and took a plunge into the lagoon.

The agency response team, with the Lagos Fire Service and Marine Rescue team, are still searching for him.

“Seafarers rescue team of the Marine unit are in fervent search for the suicide victim who jumped off the Third Mainland Bridge,” said Femi Oke-Osanyintolu.

Suicide is a regular occurrence in Lagos,  Nigeria’s largest commercial city with an estimated population of 22 million residents.
