Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State has reiterated the government’s focus on ensuring food security to reduce the cost of food in the state.

Obafemi Hamzat, deputy governor of Lagos who represented the governor, said this at the 2023 Lagos Food Festival, highlighting the importance of prioritizing food security.

Themed ‘A Fusion of Flavours’ the annual festival aims to exhibit Lagos’ culinary potential both locally and globally. The Governor in his address emphasised that this festival showcases the city’s prosperity, innovation, and resourcefulness, especially among young people.

Furthermore, Hamzat affirmed the Sanwo-Olu led administration’s commitment to developing the agricultural industry, a key component of the state’s THEMES Agenda.

“This event is a platform for young talents to flourish and thrive financially. We can’t just sit back and complain; we need to empower our youth. Today, seeing the multitude of young people engaged in various activities is a testament to their innovative spirit and the essence of Lagos,” Sanwo-Olu commented.

Also, Abisola Olusanya, commissioner for Agriculture stated the state is fostering an enabling environment for SMEs while integrating entertainment, tourism, and food to boost the state’s economy.

“The Lagos Food Festival allows us to showcase the rich culinary diversity of our state, bringing together different foods and cultures. It’s an avenue for vendors to display seafood, meats, poultry, farm produce, and more.
