Akin Abayomi, Lagos Commissioner for Health, has shared his experience undergoing successful eye surgery at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), acknowledging the skill and expertise of the hospital’s medical professionals.
He shared the news via his official Instagram page on Friday, with cheering pictures of him flanked by the medical team that handled his case.
The team includes oculoplastic surgeons from the hospital’s Eye Department, led by Bola Adekoya, a professor of Ophthalmology, and Dr. Rosemay Ngwu.
The tertiary hospital is headed by veteran medical administrator, Adetokunbo Fabamwo, a professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, supported by Adebowale Adekoya, director of Clinical Services and Training.
“Thrilled to share that I just had a successful eye surgery at LASUTH! Huge thanks to the incredible oculoplastic surgeons in the Eye Department, especially Prof. Mrs. Bola Adekoya and Dr. Rosemay Ngwu, for their expertise and for making the procedure painless.

LASUTH is a top tertiary institution in Nigeria that has varying expertise and medical infrastructure investments.
In the past, it has recorded multiple investments in capacities from laser treatment for kidney care to cardiovascular treatments, minimally invasive procedures, and staff training.
