Lagos closes Badia, Gaskiya level crossings for railway project

LASG to residents: Beware of illegal e-hailing cab operators

To facilitate the ongoing Lagos-Ibadan section of the railway modernisation project- extending to the Apapa port, the Lagos State government will be closing the Badia Junction and Gaskiya level crossing on Saturday, December 12, and Sunday, December 13, 2020, respectively. Each of the roads will be closed from 5:00am to 10:00pm.

A statement by Frederic Oladeinde, the state commissioner for transport, explained that the contractor, China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC) Nigeria Limited, would commence track laying on the level crossings on the Apapa end of the railway as listed above.

Motorists trying to access Badia from Ijora 7up are to navigate their ways through Marine Bridge to link Boundary inwards Olayinka Street to connect Gaskiya Road and finally, reach Badia.

Motorists also coming in from Lagos-Badagry Expressway to Badia are to utilise Orile inwards Sari-Iganmu road inwards Gaskiya Road to connect Badia.

The statement advised users to comply with the traffic directions provided, assuring that the traffic management personnel would be ground to help out in minimising the inconveniences that may be experienced while the construction work lasts.

The government also appealed to motorists to utilise the alternative roads with patience, as the project was aimed at ‘achieving a seamless multi-modal transport system that will meet the transportation needs of the population.’
