The Louis Awode Foundation (LAF) and Dove Nigeria has concluded the ‘Girl in Bloom’ initiative at the University of Lagos Women’s Society Hostel, reaching more than 100 female students.
The outreach marked 2026 Menstrual Hygiene Day with health education and product distribution.
Designed to advance menstrual health awareness and promote holistic wellbeing, the program combined a community wellness walk with reproductive health education sessions.
Dove Nigeria distributed more than 100 roll-ons to students as part of the giveaway tied to the initiative.
Louis Awode, founder of the LAF, reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to empowering girls and young women through education, health promotion, and strategic partnerships.
“At the Louis Awode Foundation, we believe empowering girls begins with ensuring they have access to the right information, support, and opportunities to thrive,” he said.
“Women’s health and hygiene are fundamental to sustainable community development, and every young woman deserves to feel confident, informed, and supported,” he explained.
“We are proud to partner with Dove Nigeria on this impactful initiative and look forward to expanding collaborations that continue to improve lives and create lasting impact,” he noted.
Menstrual hygiene remains a public health challenge in Nigerian universities, where access to products and accurate information is limited.
LAF said the partnership with Dove aims to reduce stigma and improve health outcomes for female students through sustained campus outreach.
The “Girl in Bloom” initiative forms part of the LAF’s broader commitment to advancing student and youth development through impactful programmes that promote education, health, leadership, innovation, and community engagement.
Guided by its vision of empowering the next generation, the Foundation continues to invest in initiatives that equip young people with the knowledge, skills, confidence, and opportunities needed to thrive in an increasingly dynamic world.
Through strategic partnerships and sustainable interventions, the Foundation has implemented programmes spanning STEM and robotics education, digital skills training, clothe-a-child, educational support, health and wellness advocacy, entrepreneurship development, and community empowerment.
By placing students and young people at the centre of its mission, the foundation remains committed to nurturing future leaders and creating lasting social impact across Nigeria.
