The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State has lauded the electorate for its overwhelming support, attributing its victory in the recent governorship election to the people’s determination to prioritize the state’s progress over ethnic divides.

Addressing reporters at a press conference in Lokoja, Kingsley Fanwo, Director of Media and Publicity/Spokesperson for the Kogi State Governorship Campaign Council, expressed gratitude to voters for their massive turnout in favor of Usman Ododo, the party’s candidate.

Fanwo emphasized the party’s success as strengthening the commitment between the APC and the people of Kogi State. He praised the state’s ongoing development efforts and pledged to continue providing essential services.

However, the APC accused opposition parties of deploying violence and intimidation tactics in Kogi East, alleging that some voters were harassed or barred from voting. They condemned these actions as “crimes against democracy,” stating that their agents were attacked and prevented from accessing collation centers.

Critiquing the opposition’s response to their loss, Fanwo likened it to a student demanding the cancellation of the majority of the exam to achieve a perfect score, calling it illogical and manipulative. He also criticized claims of manipulated result sheets circulating on social media, dismissing them as attempts to undermine the election’s credibility.

The party highlighted their candidate’s widespread support across the state, emphasizing Ododo’s success in multiple senatorial districts while questioning the opposition’s claims of victory confined to specific areas.

Oluremi Tinubu, First Lady of Nigeria, extended felicitations to the people of Kogi State and congratulated Usman Ododo on his victory, thanking the electorate for their support and expressing blessings for the state and the nation.

The APC assured continued dedication to governing effectively, acknowledging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and party leaders for their support and promising to uphold progress in Kogi State.
