Kebbi governor approves N2.4bn for constituency projects

US nears deal on Governor Bagudu’s money-laundering case

Kebbi State Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has approved the release of N2.4 billion for constituency projects in the state.

The projects are to be executed under various ministries, departments and agencies in fulfillment of the policy thrust of the incumbent administration of provision of dividends of democracy to the people.

The state Commissioner for Water Resources and Rural Development, Nura Usman Kangiwa, announced this during a briefing at General Abdulsalami Press Centre, Government House, Birnin Kebbi, on Thursday.

He explained that Governor Bagudu has mandated members of the State House of Assembly to identify important projects in their constituencies for submission to appropriate ministries for his approval.

The Ministry of Water Resources and Rural Development would execute projects of N732.6 million in the provision of water and electricity.

Kangiwa said new water projects and renovation of existing water facilities would consume N499.4 million including procurement of new transformers, while rehabilitation of existing ones would attract N234 million.

The commissioner added that N4 million has been earmarked for the renovation of earth dams.

The projects would be executed in all the 21 local government areas of the state.
