The Kano State Police Command has announced the deployment of security personnel across churches and other strategic locations in the state to ensure a peaceful celebration of Easter.
In a statement issued on Saturday by Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Police Public Relations Officer, said the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, had directed all operational commanders to strengthen security arrangements throughout the Easter period.
According to the statement, the police have put in place proactive measures aimed at safeguarding worship centres and public spaces as Christians in Kano State and across the country commemorate the Easter festivities.
The command said Heads of Departments, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and other operational units have been instructed to intensify patrols and maintain heightened vigilance to prevent any security breach during the celebrations.
While extending Easter greetings to Christians, the police urged residents to remain security conscious and promptly report suspicious movements or incidents to the nearest police station.
Members of the public were also encouraged to contact the Kano Police through its emergency lines or use the NPF Rescue Me mobile application available on the Play Store for quick response.
The command wished Christians in Kano State a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration.
