Kogi resident doctors warm up for strike as 21 days ultimatum elapse

Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) has condemned the alleged attempts by the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) to jeopardise the adjustment of Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS).

The union in a communiqué’ issued at the end of its expanded emergency meeting held in Abuja claimed that the FMoH in the last 14 years under the watch of three health ministers has frustrated as well as jeopardised the adjustment of CONHESS.

The communiqué’ which was signed by the acting national secretary of JOHESU, Matthew Ajorutu for the national chairman therefore, mandated the leadership to immediately issue the statutory 15-day ultimatum to the federal government to compel the approval of its 6 point demand which is geared towards rendition of good health services to consumers of health in Nigeria.

However, the health unions frowned at the tactics employed by the FMoH to negate the due process employed in the approval of consultant cadre for pharmacists in the civil service of the federation, demanded that moving forward, each teaching hospital should be made to have at least 15 pharmacists consultants, while Federal Medical Centres and its equivalents should have at least ten in same cadre.
