Determined to groom employable students, Junior Achievement Nigeria (JAN) has empowered senior secondary school students with the necessary skills required to grow in their future careers.

To achieve this, JA Nigeria recently held a career success integration programme for students in collaboration with KPMG Nigeria to equip young individuals with the essential skills and knowledge required to build resilience in the future.

The seven-week programme developed by JA Nigeria imparted the participants with job readiness skills that would help them harness decision-making abilities essential in the future.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the programme, Foluso Gbadamosi, executive director of Junior Achievement Nigeria, said the inclusion of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education in the Junior Achievement Career Success Programme, emphasises the dedication to preparing students for future challenges.

According to her, the positive impact of collaboration with KPMG Nigeria further reiterates both organisations’ steadfast vision to inspire and prepare young people for global success, eagerly anticipating the transformative journey with future generations.

Tola Adeyemi, senior partner at KPMG West Africa, said the purpose is to inspire confidence and empower change.

“We are proud of our partnership with Junior Achievement Nigeria in running the recently concluded Career Success Programme. This programme has been instrumental in endowing secondary school students with knowledge and insights in critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity,” Adeyemi said.

Adeyemi urged the resilient students and mentees to remember that their dreams are valid and within reach, adding that the skills they have developed during the programme will serve as the steppingstones to a brighter future.

“We extend our special appreciation to Junior Achievement Nigeria, whose unwavering commitment to education and skill development has undoubtedly set the stage for a brighter future,” Adeyemi said.

The programme emphasised critical areas and fundamental skills required for navigating and excelling in life. This encompasses critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity, along with vital soft skills, STEM education, personal branding, and practical job-seeking tools such as resume writing, cover letters, interviews, and digital profile building.
