Izili has been named Solar Home System (SHS) Company of the Year at the 2025 AFSIA Solar Awards held in Accra, Ghana. The recognition reflects the company’s growing role in expanding energy access across several African countries through solar and digital solutions.

The award highlights Izili’s work in last-mile distribution and its efforts to deliver solar home systems to households that depend on alternative sources of power. The company has operated across the continent for more than a decade and continues to broaden its reach through a network that supports both rural and peri-urban communities.

Speaking after receiving the award, Kolawole Osinowo, CEO of Izili Group, said the recognition reinforces the company’s mission. “This award is a validation of our mission to bring clean, reliable, and affordable energy to every household across Africa. It belongs to our teams in Senegal, Madagascar, Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire who work tirelessly every day to empower communities with innovative solar and digital solutions.”

Izili, formerly Baobab+, has sold more than 700,000 products across its markets. Its approach combines solar technologies with financing models such as Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG), allowing customers to adopt energy tools without heavy upfront costs. The company currently operates in Nigeria, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, and Madagascar, offering solutions that support learning, business activity, healthcare needs, and digital access.

Through its CoolHer Programme, Izili also supports women entrepreneurs with solar-powered fridges that help them strengthen their livelihoods and increase their income.

The AFSIA Solar Awards remain a major platform for recognising organisations shaping Africa’s energy sector. Winning the SHS category places Izili among companies driving the shift towards wider solar adoption.

Izili expressed appreciation to its partners, customers, investors, and field teams whose work made the award possible.

Since 2015, the company has reached more than 2.5 million people with energy and digital tools through support, financing, and distribution across its operating countries.
