Iwuanyanwu urges Ndigbo to harness untapped resources in region for economic growth

Iwuanyanwu appeals to Nigerian youths to sheathe sword, FG to fulfil demand

Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, president-general of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has urged Ndigbo to tap into the unharnessed natural resources that abound in the region for economic development.

Iwuanyanwu noted that Igbo land was blessed with abundant natural resources such as limestone, uranium, caoline, oil, among others which were yet to be tapped.

He said this at Umuoro Nvosi in IsialaNgwa South Local Government Area of Abia State Country home of Governor Alex Otti when he and some members of the Apex Igbo Socio-cultural organisation paid Otti a visit.
He lauded Governor Otti over his sterling performance in office, describing his achievements in office so far as legendary.

The President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo congratulated the governor for making the Igbos proud, saying that they were proud of him.

He pointed out that his visit was to give a comprehensive report of Ohanaeze to the governor, adding that he received excellent report of the performance of Governor Otti which is true.

“I have field officers who report to me, they have given to me very excellent report on the performance of Abia State Governor, His Excellency Alex Otti. I have also confirmed all the information I have sent people in the field. In fact, he is classified “A” in our classification. I have come here today, I have discussed with him and I have confirmed that everything reported to me about his efforts, his achievements since he was sworn in on 29th of May, 2023 is true. All I can say here on behalf of Igbos all over the world as their leader is congratulations,” he said.

He further said that there was need to change the misconception about Ndigbo by non-Igbos, emphasizing that it could only be done by Ndigbo telling their own story rather than allowing others tell an incomplete story of them.

While receiving the delegation, Governor Otti thanked Iwuanyanwu for the endorsement, disclosing that he came to office prepared because he understood the problem and the need of the people.
He disclosed that one of the challenges of the people was access road and informed that he had started tackling it.

Otti used the opportunity to disclose that he had approved that an assessment of the International Glass Industry, Aba and other moribund industries be done to enable his government take decision on whether to retrofit them or build new ones, adding that Abia has many mineral resources that would be harnessed.

Governor Otti, who pledged to give the Ohanaeze Ndigbo all the support, expressed gratitude to the President-General for accepting to serve Ndigbo, describing Ndigbo as industrious, business-like and lovers of education.
