Nasir El- Rufai, former Governor of Kaduna State, says those who betrayed him will struggle with their conscience, but he has moved on with new political chapter in life.
El-Rufai made this remark in response to a post on X by a user who questioned why President Bola Tinubu allegedly turned against him despite his contributions to the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the elections.

“What is unfolding is merely another life experience, @realYusufTukur, and part and parcel of human nature. We have got over it and moved on, but their conscience won’t let them sleep well. Thanks anyway. – @elrufai,” he wrote.
The post that triggered his response was from a user, @realYusufTukur, who accused Tinubu and his allies of seeking El-Rufai’s support before the elections, only to later downplay his role.
“When they were desperately seeking El-Rufai’s support, #officialABAT and his goons were everywhere singing Malam’s praises. Given their penchant for ingratitude, however, they’ve turned around to claim that Malam didn’t even support PBAT. But these testimonies say otherwise,” Tukur wrote.
He attached a past video of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, in which he praised El-Rufai and other APC governors for insisting that the Presidency should rotate to the South for the sake of national unity.
In the clip, Governor Makinde said, “I must give kudos to governors on the platform of APC. Governors like El-Rufai, the governor of Jigawa, Mai Mala Buni, and that of Kogi. They came together within their party and said, ‘For the unity of this country, let’s sacrifice our ambition. Let the presidency rotate to the South.’ We must give kudos to them. But what happened in our own party is that we were fighting ourselves; I don’t think that is right.”

Responding to the political fallout, El-Rufai maintained that he had no personal expectations from his actions, adding that the situation simply reflects human nature.
