Ishaku preaches peace, deploys security to troubled areas

Governor, Darius Dickson Ishaku on Sunday sued for peace among residents of Kwararafa village, in Gassol Local Government Area of the state, following an outbreak of crisis among the residents during the weekend.

Gov Ishaku in a statement made available to BusinessDay and signed by his senior special assistant on media and publicity,  Bala Dan Abu, said he was unhappy with frequent resort to violence by people who have lived together for decades as good neighbours and noted that this was not the right solution for disagreements among people and communities.

He said  that “whatever the issues that may be involved and whatever the depth of the feelings and sentiments that those issues generate, dialogue remains the best approach for achieving peaceful resolution.

“I am unhappy and deeply concerned about the turn of events in Kwararafa and have directed security agencies to intervene to restore peace quickly,” the governor said.

The Governor advised residents of Kwararafa village to cooperate with security agencies deployed to the area to facilitate the quick return of normalcy to the village.

Tension at the weekend mounted in Dan-Anacha village in Gassol local government area of the State following a directive by governor Ishaku for the immediate change of Government Secondary School Dan-Anacha to Kwararafa.

Residents of the village said the name change was an affront on the people of the area, considering the fragile peace  in the State.

The action triggered the youths in the area to accuse Governor Ishaku of inviting trouble in the area, saying his action had proven allegations against him that he was only preaching peace in media but fueling crisis in the State.
