No fewer than 40 suspected illegal immigrants were arrested at various locations in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State by Oyo State Command OF the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

Tayo Dada, Oyo State Comptroller of NIS, who disclosed this to the newsmen, stated that none of those apprehended possessed valid residence permits or travel documents, thereby entering the country through unauthorised routes.

Dada, who said their arrests were made following credible intelligence gathered, noted that 27 of the individuals are Cameroonians, two are Ghanaians, 10 are Beninese, and one is Togolese. Among them, eight are females and 32 are males, aged between 18 and 35 years.

It was learnt that 10 of the arrested individuals are farmers, while 30 claimed to be involved in online marketing.

The Oyo NIS boss, however, said that the Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nanna Nandap, had directed that the necessary steps should be taken to repatriate the foreigners to their respective countries.
