Kayode  Egbetokun, Inspector-General of Police, on Tuesday reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to improving housing welfare for officers.

According to a statement on Wednesday by Benjamin Hundeyin, Force Public Relations Officer, this was disclosed when he received Shehu Osidi, Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), on a courtesy visit to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Osidi expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General for the warm reception accorded his delegation, describing the Nigeria Police Force as one of the most strategic institutional partners of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria.

He commended the Force for its longstanding cooperation with the Bank and emphasised the need to further strengthen the partnership to ensure that police personnel across the country can easily access housing benefits and mortgage facilities.

The FMBN Managing Director noted that deepening collaboration between both institutions would help eliminate administrative bottlenecks, delays and disputes that sometimes hinder officers from benefiting fully from available housing schemes.

According to him, seamless access to affordable mortgage financing remains critical to improving the living conditions and long-term welfare of police officers.

Responding, Egbetokun described the visit as timely and significant, particularly in light of ongoing efforts to improve welfare and operational effectiveness within the Force.

He said strategic institutional partnerships such as the one with FMBN are essential to achieving sustainable housing solutions for police personnel nationwide.

The Inspector-General reaffirmed that the welfare of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force remains a top priority under his leadership.

“Access to decent and affordable housing plays a crucial role in boosting morale, productivity and commitment among officers who ежедневно risk their lives to protect lives and property across the country”, he stressed.

IGP further assured the FMBN delegation of the Force’s readiness to continue working closely with the Bank to expand housing opportunities for serving officers and retirees alike, in line with broader police welfare reforms.

The Nigeria Police Force, he added, remains committed to fostering strategic partnerships with relevant institutions to promote the dignity, well-being and post-service security of its personnel.
