Kayode Egbetokun, Inspector-General of Police (IGP), on Tuesday, presented insurance benefit cheques to the next of kin of 706 fallen officers, reaffirming the Force’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their families.
The event, which was held in Abuja, also saw the unveiling of the Nigeria Police Insurance Claims Management Portal (npfinsuranceclaimsmgt.ng), a digital platform designed to streamline the claims process and eliminate bureaucratic delays.
According to Egbetokun, the initiative addresses a backlog of unsettled insurance claims from 2010 to 2023, which had left many affected families in financial distress.
The IGP disclosed that the Force had successfully disbursed benefits to 6,465 beneficiaries in eight previous phases, totaling N17.8 billion.

Present at the event were members of the Force Management Team, senior police officers, insurance industry stakeholders, and beneficiaries of the scheme.
To ensure efficiency in claims processing, the Force has also introduced a specialized training programme for Insurance Desk Officers across 17 Zonal Commands and 37 State Commands.
Reiterating the Force’s commitment to supporting the families of fallen officers, Egbetokun assured that efforts would continue to enhance the welfare of both serving and retired personnel.
