Igangan Monarch accuses evicted Fulani leader behind latest attack in community

Igangan-Fulani-herdsmen-attack

The Asigangan of Igangan, Oba Lasisi Adeoye on Monday accused the evicted Seriki Fulani of Ibarapaland, Salihu Abdulkadir, behind Saturday’s attack on the town.

Suspected Fulani herdsmen on Saturday night allegedly invaded Igangan community, killing 11 people.

The assailants also razed vehicles, houses, including the palace of Asigangan and a filling station.

Oba Adeoye speaking on a live interview on Ibadan-based radio station, on Monday, alleged that the Seriki paid the marauders to attack the community.

According to him, it was Seriki Fulani that was evicted from this land that came to attack us. He sent those people that collect money to fight wars to attack us on Saturday. They entered the town around 11pm.

The community,he stated, did not have any premonition about the attack saying that the people of the town have been preparing for about three months for the attack.

The Monarch said ,“our people have been trying with the preparation. What made us to suffer a great defeat was that we don’t have good ammunition to fight. We don’t have money to buy good and modern ammunition. We don’t have the type of ammunition they are using. We too can buy the weapons to defend ourselves and land but it is very expensive. If we see money, we will buy,”

He however said the police don’t have the kind of ammunition the gunmen are using, therefore appealed to government to assist the communities in Ibarapa and others in Oyo state.
