A tragic tanker explosion has claimed the life of a driver and left another person injured in Ibadan. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday along the Ojoo/Iwo Road Expressway near Fijabi House, Agbowo.
According to Yemi Akinyinka, the general manager of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, the accident happened when a tanker loaded with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) lost control, collided with two other trucks, and somersaulted into a nearby pit before catching fire.

“The agency received a distress call about the fire incident at exactly 2:45 a.m. Upon arrival, we found three trucks involved in the blaze, spaced about 20 meters apart,” Akinyinka explained.
While the tanker’s driver was tragically burnt to death, the motor boy was rescued and rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH) for medical treatment.
The Oyo State Fire Services Agency has since extinguished the flames, and investigations into the incident are underway.
