I joined Leadway Assurance as a newbie in the insurance industry (March 2017), and coming from a different professional background, I had a layperson’s understanding of what insurance was. Was it challenging at first? Yes, it was but with time, I began to understand how important insurance was for not just me, but every Nigerian.

I learnt that the core objectives of insurance are wealth creation, financial stability, and assets protection. I also discovered that owning an insurance cover is not an obligation but a responsibility. From then on, I saw insurance in a whole new light; an endeavour beyond a job, but a movement to be advanced everywhere.

In Nigeria, insurance penetration has remained between 0.3 to 0.4 per cent for many years, but there has been steady growth. The adoption of insurance, especially for people in the North of Nigeria, has not been an easy task. As a market leader, Leadway Assurance has had to provide education, consistently so people can understand that insurance is the number one risk management and wealth creation package they need.

So far, with the numbers of testimonials and feedback I have gotten from clients, I can confidently say, we are doing a reasonably good job in propagating the insurance advantage message.
