How we have maintained a Symbiotic Relationship with our Vendors – CWG Plc

Nigeria’s largest system integration company, CWG Plc has revealed some of the methods it has successfully employed in maintaining a symbiotic relationship with its vendors.

These methods, according to CWG, are reliance on communication and getting to know its suppliers and their capabilities through continued engagement. These, they affirm, have opened up more doors to partnerships and collaborations.

“We believe that improved communication with our suppliers would help build trusting relationships, keep us abreast of market conditions, and help support long term goals for both parties. This has increased the ease and speed with which we can connect with suppliers and their involvement much earlier in our procurement plans and activities,” according to CWG’s Head of Procurement, Mrs Vivian Okpala.

She stated that while improving communication with vendors, CWG is also aware of the information security risk exposures, especially with the growth of the digital world. Thus, it has begun to routinely contact its vendors to update them on the ISMS (Information Security Management System) requirements.

She added that, with CWG’s procurement processes fully automated, the company’s focus is centred on its suppliers. She also opined that with digitization comes increased dependency on data, which is very relevant to its supply chain activities, especially in relation to maintaining appropriate inventory levels.

Meanwhile, in response to change, CWG Plc has heightened its procurement processes through the company’s P2P (Procure-to-Pay) processes, which were already fully automated long before the COVID-19 pandemic and this helped ease the impact on CWG’s procurement/supply chain activities.

CWG has also implemented a Business Impact Analysis per ISO 23001:2019 (BCMS) requirements. The purpose of this was to determine the maximum acceptable outage and recovery time amid any disruptions in its activities.
