Four graduates of Greensprings School have made Nigeria proud by emerging top in the recently released results of the 2022 International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examination.
The four students include Emmanuella Ilok, Oreoluwa Moradeyo, Uwadiae Guobadia and Kosisochukwu Okoye, who graduated from Greensprings School, were given the ‘Top in Country’ award.
According to the recently released 2022 Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards, Emmanuella Ilok was awarded top in Physics and First Language, English while Oreoluwa Moradeyo was awarded top in Information and Communication Technology.
Uwadiae Guobadia was top in Biology; Kosisochukwu Okoye and Emmanuella Ilok emerges top in Literature in English. In addition to being the country’s best in these subjects, one of the awardees, Emmanuella Ilok, won the Overall Best across eight subjects in Nigeria.

The achievement of these students makes it the sixth consecutive time, since 2016, that Greensprings Students will be awarded ‘Top in Country’ in various subjects. The students received the country’s top awards in subjects like Mathematics, English, Physics, Biology, Global Perspective, Literature, French, and Drama, and one of them, Honour Olatunji received the ‘Top in the World’ award in Mathematics in the year 2016.
Commending the achievements of the students, Feyisara Ojugo, acting deputy director of Education of Greensprings School Lagos, said the management of the school is immensely proud of the exceptional accomplishments of the students in the 2022 IGCSE results.
According to Ojugo, the student’s achievements were a reflection of their commitment, resilience, and hard work, adding that the commendable feat also reinforces the school’s commitment to academic excellence and the dedication of the school’s skilled educators who have supported the students throughout their academic journey.
“Over the past six years, 25 Greensprings students have won the award in various subjects, and one of these students won the ‘Top in the World’ award in Mathematics,” Ojugo said.
She further said that this year’s achievement is special because one of the students won the ‘Overall Best across eight subjects’ in Nigeria award. We extend our congratulations to our exceptional students on their outstanding achievements and express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has contributed to their success. These remarkable young individuals truly embody the spirit of excellence, and we have no doubt that they will continue to shine brightly in all their future endeavours,” she said.
The Cambridge IGCSE examination is an international exam taken by students, aged 14 to 16 years old. The examination is administered at the final secondary school year of various international schools in Nigeria, with the British Council and Cambridge Assessment International Education being the administrators. The Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards is an initiative of the British Council with a primary objective of recognising best-performing students and innovative schools.
