Following incessant security challenges faced by farmers in the Northern part of Nigeria, and the difficulty in accessing the nation’s premier seaports, Golden Fertilizer, a Golden Agri Inputs subsidiary of Flour Mills of Nigeria (FMN), the Agro company has disclosed that it plans to expand its fertilizer blending plants into other states of the federation.

“We are looking forward to the expansion of our blending plants into more states outside Lagos. We have just gained more properties in northern states that will help us cater better for our customers and de-risk the concentration of our business in Lagos,” said Paul Gbededo, the GMD/CEO Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc.

Gbededo states that the move will enhance the company’s presence outside Lagos and allow for quick delivery of golden fertilizer to the end-users. He made the disclosure at the 2020 edition of Golden

Fertilizer Customer Forum, held in Lagos.

According to the GMD, in preparing for the future, there is a need for FMN to optimize its businesses through innovative ideas and preparations. This he posits is very crucial to creating wealth and keeping jobs.

“First let me admit here that it takes all hands and all minds on deck to navigate the current problems and the ones ahead. We have shown over the last 20 years that partnership with our stakeholders is resilient and can withstand the turbulence of the social and economic environment. One good thing is that despite the problems, we have kept our business and your businesses going profitably,” he said.

Gbededo states further that inconsistent government policies on fertilizer have challenged the several structures built by Golden Fertilizer based on knowledge of the fertilizer market, farmer’s needs and agronomy services.
