Glo to boost female participation in ICT

Globacom boosts business operations with ‘Glo outsourcing pro’

Globacom, a digital services company, has said it will always support girls who want to pursue a career in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) space.

The company said this while celebrating the 2023 edition of Girls in ICT Day, in partnership with e-Business Life Communications Limited, the organiser of the event in Nigeria, according to a statement.

The Girls-in-ICT Day is an initiative of the International Telecommunication Union which aims to create a global drive that encourages girls and young women to consider careers in the field of ICT.

At the event themed, ‘Digital Skills For Life’, Globacom advised school girls across the country who seek to pursue careers in ICT to remain determined and focused in their quest to achieve their ambitions, which in turn will help them to contribute to the growth of the country.

Adeniji Adeboye, head of HNI, Enterprise Business Group at Globacom, who represented the company at the event, called on school girls not to be discouraged in the pursuit of their dreams as “persistence drives success” in all human endeavours.

“Globacom will always encourage you all to embrace the various opportunities existing and those yet to be created in the ICT space and build fulfilling and rewarding careers,” Adeboye said.

The event, which featured quiz competition, roundtable discussions and presentations, was attended by 16 schools from Lagos and Ogun states and representatives of the Nigerian Communications Commission, according to the statement.
