Ghana’s transition shows West Africa has thriving democracy – Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu says Ghana’s democratic presidential transition proves that democracy in West Africa is established and thriving.

The president gave the submission in Accra, Ghana at the swearing in of President John Mahama, Tuesday. The president said the smooth transition in Ghana proves to naysayers and critics of the region wrong.

Tinubu promised that Nigeria will continue working hand in hand with Ghana for the progress of both countries and the entire continent.

“I am here to work with you. You know you can count on Nigerian support at any time,” Tinubu said.

“We are your brothers and sisters. We shall always be there for you. May your administration be a profound success for you, Ghanaians and the entire continent.

“The new government under the President John Mahama will work with Nigeria leading to share prosperity for the glory of our two nations. Your administration will bring about positive change. Your essential to power we will also mark a new and invigorating progress.”

Tinubu said he will look forward to the two countries working together to tackle the citizens’ most pressing problems of poverty, youth unemployment, insurgency and many other problems hampering our desired progress.

“May Ghana’s democracy continue to grow stronger. May progress and prosperity be your portion. Let us all look forward to a future filled with growth opportunity and progress,” he said.
