Flour Mills Nigeria appoints Olusanya GMD as Gbededo retires

Flour Mills of Nigeria (FMN) Plc, leading integrated food business and agro-allied group, has appointed Omoboyede Olusanya as its new Group Managing Director (GMD) and CEO, effective January 1, 2021.

Olusanya, who joined FMN in January 2020 as the Group Chief Operating Officer (GCOO) is a seasoned, well-respected and proven executive with an exceptional record. In his current role as GCOO, he has delivered substantial strategic and operational progress for all stakeholders in the business while developing a cohesive culture, focused on growth and innovation. He was admitted to the Board of Directors in July 2020 and will take over from Paul Gbededo, who will be retiring after 38 years of meritorious service to the Group.

Olusanya obtained a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He subsequently attended the Universities of Liverpool and Manchester, England where he obtained his M.SC. Computer Science and M.SC. Environmental Civil Engineering respectively. The new GMD has also attended several management programmes at the Lagos, London and Harvard Business Schools, respectively. He is also member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, a member of Council for the Regulation of Engineering (COREN), Institute of Directors (IOD), as well as UK member of IHT (Institute of Highways and Transportation).

A statement from FMN described Olusanya as a result-oriented leader with a focus on operational efficiency, productivity and also possesses strong business acumen and adept risk management skills.

He launched his career over three decades ago as a systems administrator with OVH Energy Services. In that time, he has served in several capacities across various industries including structural engineering, information technology and telecommunications.

“Some of the highlights of his career include deputy CEO ECONET Wireless, managing director of Dancom Technologies, chief transformation officer at Dangote Industries Limited, partner at GA Capital Ltd, chief executive officer of Emerging Markets Telecommunication Service Limited (formerly Etisalat), where he anchored the sale process for 9mobile which he saw to completion and group operating partner at Helios Investment Partners.
