Flood: NEMA distributes relief materials to victims in Edo

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Thursday distributed relief materials to victims of 2020 flood disaster in three Local Government Areas of Edo State.

The local government areas that benefited are Etsako East, Etsako Central and Esan South East.

Items distributed to the beneficiaries include rice, garri, beans, spaghetti, salt, groundnut oil, seasoning, mosquito nets, blankets, matress among others.

Muhammadu Muhammed, Director General of NEMA who presented the items to the victims in Benin City, said it is part of the federal government efforts to provide succour to those affected by flood in 2020.

Represented by Dahiru Yusuf, Head of Benin NEMA operation office, assured that the federal government will not relent in providing aid items to Nigerians affected by flood in the country.

“These items are given to the flood victims by the federal government due to this years flood so as to cushion the effect of the flood on the people”,he said.

While urging the recipients to ensure the items get to the victims, he advised them to take proactive measures to avoid losing their property to flood.

In his remarks, Salami Lukman, Head Edo State Emergency Management Agency, assured that the items would get to the victims as they have earlier done enumeration to determine those affected by the flood.
