The Lagos State government has ordered the immediate suspension of commercial activities in Dosunmu Street and its immediate environs on Lagos Island, until further following the fire outbreak that engulfed the area on Tuesday.
Bola Olumegbon Lawal, the special adviser to the state governor on CBD, in reaction to the fire incident, said the measure became necessary to prevent loss of life and maintain peace and order in the area.
Lawal also urged market women and men in the area to make way for emergency responders to effectively performance of their duties.
The fire which started in the early hours of Tuesday, April 9, brought down two buildings. Rescues efforts were still ongoing at the time of this report.
Areas affected include Dosumu, Nnamdi Azikwe, Moshalashi, Woro Pedro, and Obanikoro Streets
Others are Ago Tawa, Idumagbo Avenue, Idumagbo, Ido – Oluwo and Oju Olobun Streets.
