Despite attempts to gather information from the House members, they have remained tight-lipped about the rumoured plot.
It remains uncertain whether the fire is linked to the ongoing political tensions.
Rumours of a strained relationship between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who currently serves as the FCT minister, have been circulating for some time.
Commenting on this on X, Omotayo Williams, a human rights lawyer, said, “My reliable sources have informed me that the impeachment drama involving the Governor of Rivers State is a result of the ex-Governor’s monthly demand of N2 billion, which the current Governor has refused to remit for the past two months. However, it seems that there is an intervention by the Villa to prevent further escalation. We are closely monitoring the situation.”
