The Bauchi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested Abdullahi Ibrahim, a 500 level student of Veterinary Medicine at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, in Kaduna State, for allegedly killing 17-year-old Umar Usman, in Misau local government area of the state.

Ilelaboye Oyejide, the state NSCDC commandant, confirmed this to journalists in Bauchi, saying the suspect was arrested in Misau. Oyejide said the command received information that Umar Usman, a secondary school student was found wrapped in a cloth and dumped at Misau bypass.

“On October 20, 2023, a lifeless body of Umar Usman was found wrapped in a white cloth and dumped in Misau bypass.

“He was quickly taken to a general hospital in Misau where he was certified dead and handed over to the family for burial,” Oyejide said.

“When we received information about the incident, we raised high powered intelligence officers to go to Misau and investigate to bring the perpetrators to book.

He said after a series of investigations by the operatives, a suspect was arrested with the name Abdullahi Ibrahim, a 500 level student of Veterinary Medicine ABU Zaria.

“We come to realise that there was a chart communication between the suspect Ibrahim and the deceased Usman. In the communication, we saw where the suspect enticed the deceased with homosexual love where he showed him his naked picture.

“When the deceased went to meet him somehow, he was stabbed in the stomach and wrapped in white cloth and dumped where he was found.

The commandant said during the investigation, the suspect confessed to the crime and would be charged to court according to his offence.

Ibrahim, the suspect, said that the deceased approached him with a knife, and self-defence led to a struggle that resulted in stabbing the deceased to death.

“I was really afraid because it was something I have never encountered in my life. That is why I wrapped the dead body in a cloth and dumped it along the bypass side,” he said.
