FG will achieve 6,000MW of electricity before December – Adelabu

Nigeria launches advanced technology to stabilise national grid

Adebayo Adelabu, Minister for Power, has assured consumers of electricity that the Ministry has concluded plans to ensure that the Ministry achieves a target of 6,000 megawatts by the end of the year.

Adelabu, while addressing the Management and Staff of Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) Ikot Nyong, Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River State on Tuesday, said “more improvement will be witnessed by next year by consumers. We are doing everything humanly possible to to enhance the state of transmission.

“While the Discos the distribution companies are also raising their games, thier own infrastructures, that is the 33kVA lines, all the duty transformers, we are still scratching the surface.

“What you are seeing here today is a tip of the iceberg, we are raising our games to fall online with president Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda to use Power to drive every sector of the economy and we must rise up to the challenge.”

On why he visited the power plant at Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River State, Adebayo noted that he led his team to visit the electricity generation company to encourage the power generators who are expected by the Federal Government to do more.

“We have witnessed and increased in power generation, in the last few months, we have hit 5,105 megawatts which is the highest in the past years. From the average of 4,000 megawatts, which is about 25% increase that this Administration met. This is commendable”, he added.

Earlier, Eka Williams, Cross River State Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, urged residents of the State not to hesitate to report anyone caught vandalizing infrastructure of Power Holding Companies.

Williams stated that Cross State Government would deal decisively with any one caught vandalizing infrastructure of Power Holding Companies, warning that no iota of economic sabotage would be tolerated by the State Government.
