The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has launched an investigation after it discovered a decomposed body inside a car at a construction site within the National Assembly Complex.

According to the FCT Police, the body of an unidentified male, believed to be a labourer, was found at approximately 9:00 a.m. on September 7, 2025.

“The distress call was promptly acted upon by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for the National Assembly Division, who arrived at the scene to find the deceased inside a red Peugeot 406 with registration number BWR-577 BF.

“Medical personnel at Asokoro General Hospital confirmed that the body was in an advanced state of decomposition upon evacuation from the vehicle, complicating immediate identification efforts”, the Police said.

Ajao Adewale, Commissioner of Police for the FCT Command, has ordered a discreet and thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.

He ordered intensified efforts to ascertain the identity of the deceased and uncover the events leading to this incident.

The Police have assured the public that further updates will be provided as the investigation unfolds.

Residents have been urged to cooperate with the Police and report any information that could aid in the investigation.
