Experts in the business world have said an increase in the adoption of the Scrum Framework by Nigerian businesses and startups will increase productivity, boosting profits in the process.

They would be highlighting how businesses can leverage this framework at the forthcoming Scrum Day Nigeria 2025 event themed, ‘Innovation and Products for Better Outcomes’ taking place at The Civic Center, Lagos.

The conference will provide a platform for industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and business professionals to engage in discussions on how modern business practices can drive efficiency, innovation, and long-term growth.

Scrum is a framework that enables teams to work collaboratively, adapt quickly to change, and deliver high-value products in iterative cycles.

Initially developed for software development, Scrum has since been adopted across various industries, helping businesses improve productivity, streamline operations, and respond effectively to customer needs.

By breaking large projects into smaller, manageable increments, Scrum allows teams to continuously refine their work, reducing waste and enhancing overall efficiency.

At the press conference ahead of the event, Sam Adesoga, Co-Convener of Scrum Day Nigeria and Managing Partner at ValueHut Consulting, explained that many organisations in Nigeria are structured around rigid, bureaucratic systems that slow down progress.

“Scrum provides a more dynamic approach, allowing businesses to build teams that are focused on continuous innovation rather than just completing short-term projects,” he stated.

He pointed out that a major challenge businesses face is inefficiency, which often leads to delayed product launches and missed market opportunities.

According to him, Scrum can help companies reduce product development time by up to 60 percent, giving them a competitive edge in an unpredictable market.

Mercy George Igbafe, Founder of Learntor, added, “One of the biggest problems we see in Nigeria is that businesses assume they know what customers want.

“The truth is, you don’t know until you ask. Scrum creates a system where businesses continuously test and refine their products based on real customer feedback.”
