Professionals in Nigeria’s education sector will converge on Asaba to discuss mechanics of empowering educators as a path to transformation at this year’s High Impact Conference for Educators (HICE).

Themed, ‘Empowering Educators: The Path to Transformation’, the 2026 HICE conference, organized by Explore Foundation was originally set for April 11, but was postponed following death of a family member of the convener, will now take place on Saturday, June 6, in Asaba, Delta State.

“By endorsing and supporting HICE 2026, we are contributing to the transformation of education in the Niger Delta and Nigeria at large,” Samuel Ogbuku, the managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) stated.

Ogbuku stated that NDDC endorsed and pledged full support for HICE 2026, which aims to equip educators with tools, knowledge, and motivation to drive positive change in classrooms across the Niger Delta and beyond.

He reiterated the NDDC’s commitment to promoting transformative education among the South-South states of the country. “Education is the foundation of a nation’s future. At NDDC, we recognise the critical role educators play in shaping the next generation.”

Ogbuku described the conference as an essential platform to empower educators and create lasting change in the educational sector. He added that by aligning with the foundation, the NDDC aims to amplify its efforts to improve education, foster inclusivity, and support local communities.

According to him, NDDC’s commitment to supporting HICE 2026 aligns with its broader mission to promote sustainable development in the Niger Delta region through strategic partnerships.

Uche Monu, HICE convener, confirmed that this year’s edition will unite over 500 educators, administrators, policymakers and thought leaders from across Nigeria in a shared commitment to reshape the country’s education future.

Monu stated that the conference would feature innovative pedagogies, actionable strategies for enhancing teaching practices, and ample networking opportunities, providing participants with the resources they need to become leaders of change.

“The NDDC’s support for HICE 2026 is a testament to our commitment to shaping the future of education in the Niger Delta and beyond,” Chiedu Ebie, chairman of NDDC, stated.

According to him, HICE 2026 will serve as a critical gathering of key stakeholders in the education sector. He added that the commission aims to support professional development, promote inclusiveness, and enhance educational leadership through its sponsorship of HICE 2026.
