In line with its commitment to grow the nation’s education system Dufil Prima Foods Plc, makers of Indomie Instant Noodles, has empowered Nigerian teachers in public and private schools across the country with skills to advance their teaching career.
The company recently organised a value-added seminar in Lagos tagged ‘Rethinking Teaching Profession and Teachers Education’,
Speaking during the seminar, Tope Ashiwaju, the Group Corporate Communications & Event Manager of Dufil Prima Foods Plc, said the yearly value-added seminar for teachers is geared towards creating a better future for children by equipping teachers with the needed skills.

He said the skills are not just academically focused but encompass physical, emotional and mental as the ever-changing dynamism of the education sector keeps evolving.
While pledging Dufil’s unwavering support to the Nigerian Teachers, Ashiwaju said that Indomie will continue to work with the teachers to exploit the enormous potential inherent in Nigerian children to ensure they are adequately prepared for their future engagements.
Addressing the teachers, Sunday Adeyemo, a professor and head of the Department of Science Education, Faculty of Education, University of Lagos, advised the teachers to embark on the quest to access quality and relevant knowledge.
Adeyemo, who was the lead speaker, said the only way for teachers to be relevant is by pursuing self-actualisation through critical thinking, communication skills, creativity, problem-solving and perseverance.
He said they are the most important self-motivation for pursuing more knowledge and achieving the sense of fulfilment that comes from knowing more.
He also urged the teachers to have empathy for their pupils, adding that teachers bear the weight and responsibility for teaching. He said apart from parents, teachers constitute a source of knowledge and values for children, setting high standards for them, while articulating clear goals.
“Empathy requires active listening. That means giving your full attention and listening to both the student’s words and tone of voice. When you listen to your students, you will be surprised by the knowledge you can also tap from them,” he explained.
Also speaking, Onatoye-Buraemoh Oluwakemi, director of the Co-Curricular, Science & Technology Department, Educational District 4, lauded the efforts of Dufil Prima Foods for supporting education in the state.
“Education is the most powerful weapon to effecting positive change in the world and would always remain the bedrock of human capital development across civilisations. With this in mind, the Lagos State Government has continued to invest in bringing out the enormous potential in our children,” she assured.
One of the high points of the event was the prize presentation to the winners that emerged from the IFC Teachers Online Quiz competition.
